Two teams Wadena based have qualified for the Ramada Hotels U18 Championship in Moose Jaw, March 23-26, 2017. Team Karla Friesen (Wadena Curling Club) and Team Dustin Mikush (Wadena and Humboldt Curling Clubs) went undefeated at the Under 18 East Central Regional Playdown in Humboldt this past weekend to win their way to the Provincials. On the girls side, although only Kea currently lives in Wadena, the Kiland and Kennedy names are well known from years past in Wadena with parents that have grown up in the Wadena and Hendon Curling Clubs.

We would also like to congratulate Team Bindig and Team Springer on a great showing both loosing in the finals of the Regions. The two teams based out of Wadena with some Foam Lake connections will represent Wadena very well for years to come. Team Bindig, who had previously qualified for the Junior Boys Provincials this year consists of Jayden Bindig, Nathan Pomedli, Josh Mayor, and Ethan Nygaard with Coach Wendel Charbonneau. Team Pomedli consists of Julia Pomedli, Beth Springer, Brittany Andreas, and Jenna Hoffman and coach Dwight Pomedli.

Pictured is both teams front row: Coach Korelye Kiland-Friesen, 5th Kelcee Kennedy, lead Kea Narfason, second Amy Fedak, third Kya Kennedy, skip Karla Friesen; Back Row: Coach Dale Neufeld, lead Braden Fleischhacker, second Alan Wobeser, third Domenic Neufeld, and skip Dustin Mikush.
